Using a Linear Actuator

The Liner actuator as purchased from Northern Tool, Comes with a Concentric Inc. motor that is not legal. We changed this motor out with an Andy Mark (am-0912) motor. The Northern Tool actuator has an internal stop in both directions, and this feature must be retained.1. Remove the (3) screws from the bottom of the actuator and lift bottom off.Note:a. The yellow, blue and white wires are not usedb. The red and black wires are for the motor2. Remove the two screws from the inside housing and lift the housing off the actuator exposing the gearNOTE: Insure no gears or washers are lost!3. Unscrew the two screws holding the concentric motor to the actuator. Cut the brown and black wire as close to the actuator as possible and remove the motor.4. Remove the nylon gear from the Concentric motor and a flat surface must be ground on the Andy Mark motor shaft to fit the gear.a. Once the gear is fitted to the Andy Mark motor.b. two new holes, or an elongated hole must be drilled into the actuator base for the Andy Mark motor to be mounted. (Andy Mark mounting holes are closer together than the Concentric holes5. Once the Andy Mark motor is mounted to the actuator, a one-quarter inch hole must be drilled through the mounting base as shown in the photos. 6. Inside the base of the actuator one red and one black wire will be spliced to the wires that were cut off the original motor. (black and brown)a. These wires will pass out through the one-quarter inch hole in the side of the mounting base. (see step number 5 and 7) The red wire will go to one terminal of the Andy Mark motor the other wire will go to the battery.b. An additional wire will be installed from the other Andy Mark terminal and then attached to the other side of the battery.7. Put all gears back in place and reassemble actuator.10 - 10<>
